All the Ways John Fetterman’s Broken With His Party

Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has made it a habit of zigging where other Democrats zag. (Politico)
The latest: Fetterman on Tuesday became the first Democratic senator to post to Truth Social, President-elect Trump’s social media platform, criticizing the gun and tax charges against Hunter Biden.
- But the real story was Fetterman calling Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of Trump, “bullsh*t.”
Why Trump won: During an appearance on “The View” last week, Fetterman said Democrats’ messaging was “condescending” and “insulting” to male and working class voters.
- Speaking to The New York Times last month, the Pennsylvania Democrat said his party needed to stop catastrophizing about Trump.
- “We’re not even at Thanksgiving, and Democrats just can’t stop losing our minds every fifteen minutes. We really need to pace ourselves, or, you know, for FFS, just grab a grip,” he said.
Trump Cabinet: In November, Fetterman was one of the few Senate Democrats to applaud reports Trump was nominating Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican, for secretary of state.
Elon: While Elon Musk is a bogeyman to most Democrats, Fetterman this month praised the Tesla and X CEO, saying he admires him and that Musk is "on a different team, but that doesn't make me an enemy."
Israel: Fetterman’s unabashed support for Israel in the Gaza War has outraged many Democratic supporters of Palestine.
